November 30

Today is an unofficial "Official Holiday" in the state of Pennsylvania. Can you guess what it is?

All of the schools are closed.

Most of the steel mills and manufacturing plants are closed and the employees get a paid holiday for it.

I can't imagine that anyone would be able to guess this unless you were actually from PA. In fact I work in OH, just across the state line and many of them couldn't believe it when I told them.

So are you dying to know?

Today is the First Day of Deer Season

Sort of like this picture but only with Deer instead of Rabbits.

And A Lot like this (but again with Deer):

Don't believe me? Ask anyone who lives in PA.

Does your state have an unofficial "Official Holiday"?

Not unless you count every Husker game of the college football season!

That's funny! We don't have any statewide holidays like that, that I know of.
I do remember that my first wedding was on opening day of hunting season here and all of the guys in my family were pretty ticked off about the date I chose. :)

Love the Elmer Fudd reference. Our school closes for deer opener too.
