Weekend Away

We had a nice time while we were camping. I have some photos to share.

Laurel and her boyz came up for the day on Friday and we went to a few places.

We started the day at Deer Park.

As soon as you walk in there are several pens of deer on your left. This is Seth feeding a deer. They are very tame and have all been handfed for years.

Behind Seth in the Boston Shirt is Laurels son A, beside him is her older son J and she is in the pink shirt on the far right.

In the back of the park is an old time village. Here is what the boyz got into back there.

This is Seth, A and Josh (Tween). Her oldest wouldn't get in the jail. I think he was afraid we would lock him in and leave him there. LOL

Seth, A and Josh again. Although school hasn't started here, they sat for a lesson. Her oldest didn't want anything to do with school either. LOL

Seth got a kick out of feeding the camels. They really had to duck down to get food from him.

He thought it would be fun to feed the lion. LOL

This picture isn't real clear. I had to stick my hand through the wires to get this one. Do you see the bear on the left? He was sitting up on his hind legs and catching the treats in his mouth. He was such a hoot.

This is a "Zonkey". A cross between a zebra and a donkey. We weren't allowed to hand feed him.

This was in the petting zoo part. This is the favorite part for the kids. You get to interact with them. At certain times during the day you can buy bottles to feed the baby goats. Notice Josh's mohawk. That is a story for another day.

Hubby's uncle raises goats so Seth has alwatys been around them. His aunt calls us every time there is a new baby so Seth can come and hold it and play with it.

We ended the adventure at Deer Park with this picture. Again her oldest wouldn't participate. Guess that is what happens at 14. My oldest didn't even go to the park.

After we left there, we went to the Linesville Spillway. Also known as the place "Where the Ducks Walk on the Fish". Believe it, I have seen it.

This is what they look like as they are being fed.

This is a family tradition in our family. My parents and grandparents took me here when I was a kid and now we take our kids here.

This is a 70+ year old tradition in the area. Feeding bread to the fish is fun. But even more fun is when you see one fall down the spillway. Or when one jumps up and back out.

After this we went to the Wildlife Education Center and then back to camp.

We had "Garbage Fries" and hotdogs over the fire for dinner. Then finished it off with Smores before Laurel and the boyz headed home.

Stacy

PS - "Garbage Fries" = One Pound of Fresh Cut Fries Smothered with Cheese, Chili, Real Bacon, Black Olives, Banana Peppers and Topped Off with Sour Cream. YUMMY!!!

I love pictures like this, but the fries sound like a bit on the over loaded side, you lost me at the banana peppers, everything else sounds really good!
