Trends come and go. I really don't pay as much attention to them as I did at one point in life. Guess that is called growing up or is it growing old?
Anyhow there is one trend that is really disturbing to me.

Why skull and crossbones? Why on children?
Teens new girlfriend came skating with us the other day and she was wearing a pink jacket with skull and crossbones all over it. It made me think less of her. Which is so wrong I know, but I can't help it. I think of all the things in life, your image is one thing you can control. Especially when you are a teen.

My biker uncle is hurt because it ruined the skull and crossbones for him. I should mention he isn't a hardcore biker or anything just likes to ride harleys. I suppose it is all relative because I don't really see them as a bad symbol, but maybe because I have embraced so much latino culture like dia de los muertos (day of the dead) which features so much skeletons. Plus I don't think the kids associate that symbol with bikers at all, I really think it is part of the pirate craze.

I posted a comment on the other side and I just don't get it. I was looking at the back to school flyers yesterday and it is scary to look at what is for sale in back to school clothes. Sure does make uniforms seem like a good idea! ;-)
I am not offended by them, even though I admit they do look silly on kindergarteners. :)
Just hold tight, this fad will pass and then teens will be looking for the next thing to shock/disturb their parents! :)
(My parents weren't thrilled with my wardrobe in high school - I loved heavy metal and went to A LOT of headbanging concerts. My favorite shirt back then was an Ozzy Osbourne shirt - back when he was "scary.")
I am so glad I grew up and own nothing "scary" now. :)
It seems that this symbol bothers you, but like you acknowledged; "don't judge a book by it's cover." Obviously if this is on a teen or tween usually some one else is making the purchases and like jen said hold on tight because soon it's not just the clothes that are going to be bothersome! Kids grow up and learn how to push parents' buttons (I know because I am a child to a set of parents-haven't lived on the other side of the fence just yet!)
Personally I am scared and excited all at the same time of when my nonexistent children (no children planned for the next year) get to be teens; I can't wait to see how "God is going to get even with me/my parents see justice."
