It is extremely quiet around here. Little S and Tween headed out Thursday morning to go camping with Grandma Retta until Saturday evening. And if that didn't make it quiet enough, Teen got called in to work yesterday from 4-Close (12:30am). And to top it all off, Thursday is hubby's golf league night.
So what did I do? I cleaned my house and then sat down with a book. I started reading the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. Laurel had told me about this series a million times and I was too busy with kids, work and activities to dig into it. I am so glad I borrowed the first book from the library. I started it yesterday morning and I am already half-way through the book. I also found out yesterday that they are now making a movie based on the first book - One For The Money. It isn't due out until sometime in 2011 so I will probably be most of the way through the series by then. She just published book 16.
There are many times when it is so crazy busy here that I wish for some quiet and alone time, but when I get it, I do not like it at all. I guess I get used to the busy and crazy. I am on day 2 and it is a little better today. The silence isn't killing me as much. Hopefully I'll finish up the book between today and tomorrow and can borrow book two from the library on Monday.
What do you do when it is way too quiet at your house?

You would think that I would be used to the quiet but really I am not. When it gets too quiet, I find anything and everything to occupy my time, laundry, reading, picking up, dusting, anything to occupy my mind. Mitch would say that is better than shopping...lol
I enjoyed the Stephanie Plum series. I think I stopped at book 11. They are really funny - I should read the ones I have missed so far.
I am reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo because of all the buzz about it. I am about 1/3 of the way through it and I am not really all that impressed. Hopefully it will get better.
And Bunco is a dice game. 12 of my girlfriends and I meet up once a month for a tame girls' night out. We bring snacks, drink a little wine, and play dice. Also, we *gasp* gamble a little. I have yet to win anything though... :) I wish you and Laurel lived closer - I would get you guys into our Bunco group. Google it - maybe it is something you could start with your friends, too!
Hmm. It's rare that it's quiet and I always tell myself I am just going to pamper myself. take a long, hot bath and drink a glass of wine. Read a book or sleep late. I don't do relaxation well though, and inevitably end up working on my to do list instead. Housework, gardening, fix-it projects, errands, etc. Glad you were able to get some down time!
Right now I would sleep! I am the same way though i have all these things I would do but I am miserable when they are gone.
That is a great series and you will enjoy it a lot!!! You will not want to put them down. All I can say is - Where can I get myself a Ranger?????
